This is a guide for Egyptian journalists and media people to report in a fair, accurate and balanced manner about election related issues.
The book is the second edition of a book which was published in cooperation between the Regional Office of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Liberty and al Ahram Foundation.
It has been used widely in trainings aimed at improving the professional skills of Egyptian journalists regarding reporting about elections.

"We Were There" is a collection of comments and personal testimonies of Egyptian youth on various aspects of the revolution.
All topics are related to the revolution and liberal issues such as freedom, dignity, justice, the civil state, freedom of expression, and lastly, equal opportunities for all members of the society.
Our authors played a role in the revolution and they all have a story to share. We have collected accounts from the finest of Egypt's youth.

This book explains the main types of electoral systems and the implications of these systems on the party system, participation rates, and the representation of minorities.
It also describes the legal framework regulating elections in Egypt. The writers relate in a comparative manner to relevant international experiences with frequent references to the current Egyptian reality and scrutinize the advantages and disadvantages of the most important electoral systems.

This manual was published as part of a project of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Liberty's Regional Office in Cairo aimed at supporting citizens journalism in Egypt and the Arab world.
Written by the prominent Egyptian bloggers and experts the manual was published in cooperation with the Egyptian Organization for Human Rights. The book includes information and tips on various topics related to blogging and citizens journalism.

This book is a collection of scholarly articles dealing with the programmatic positions and political practice of Egypt's main political parties regarding the issues of human rights.
It was written in an attempt to inform the Egyptian public about the positions of the relevant political forces regarding this important matter.

Economic Freedom of the Arab World: 2010 Report |

Bahrain is ranked number one among Arab nations for economic freedom, according to the Economic Freedom of the Arab World: 2010 Annual Report.
Kuwait is ranked second and Lebanon third, according to the annual report co-published by the Fraser Institute, Canada’s leading public policy think-tank, along with the International Research Foundation (IRF) of Oman, and the Cairo office of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Liberty (FNF).
The report was released November 1 at the start of the annual meeting of the Economic Freedom of the Arab World in Cairo. The meeting attracted delegates from nations throughout the Middle East.

"Liberalism in the Arab History of Thought" is part of the successful series "Liberal Texts" which the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Liberty (FNF) publishes in cooperation with Mahrousa Publishers in Cairo.
The 180-page book edited by German scholar Clemens Recker presents some of the most prominent historic thinkers of the Arab world and their ideas on freedom, the rule of law, market economy, secularism, democracy and women’s rights.
The editor’s main argument is that these texts clearly show that liberalism is not alien to the Arab world.

This 92-page volume contains – for the first time in Arabic translation – the most important programmatic documents of Liberal International, the world federation of liberal political parties. The book was published on the occasion of the 56. Congress of Liberal International held in Cairo in late October 2009.
The programmatic texts reflect in a unique manner the political and programmatic development and also richness of international liberalism.

This book is the first in the Foundation’s series "Liberal Publications". The 95-page volume gives an overview of liberalism in an Egyptian context. Written by an eminent Egyptian liberal writer, "Liberalism and the Egyptian Society: Crisis and Evidence" is divided into three main chapters.

"Women and Mirror": Liberal Publication on Gender Issues (Printed in Arabic) |

The Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Liberty (FNF) in cooperation with Mahrousa Publishing House launched the second book of its new series "Liberal Publications" with a volume on women’s rights. Titled "Women and Mirror.
Vision for the Contemporary Reality for Women," the book contains articles by various writers from different parts of the world who all deal with aspects of the women’s struggle for equal rights and opportunities. Among the authors are well-known Malaysian activist Zenah Anwar who writes about women politics in an Islamic context or Daad Musa from Syria and Jamila Sayouri from Morocco who deal with legal aspects of women emancipation in their respective countries.

Economic Freedom of the Arab World: 2008 Annual Report |

Kuwait and Lebanon are the most economically free Arab nations, according to the Economic Freedom of the Arab World: 2008 Annual Report. The report was released in Doha, Qatar, on November 5 by the Fraser Institute of Canada in cooperation with the International Research Foundation of Oman and the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Liberty.
It’s the second year in a row Kuwait was ranked first, while Lebanon was ranked third last year. The two nations each scored 7.7 on the overall economic freedom index. They were followed closely by Oman (7.6), Jordan (7.5), Saudi Arabia (7.4), the United Arab Emirates (7.3) and Yemen (7.1).

Published jointly in Cairo by the Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR) and the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Liberty
This book examines the prevailing laws for political parties, NGOs and labor unions in Egypt, Palestine, Syria, Jordan and Lebanon. It identifies obstacles and solutions for legislation related to freedom of association. Moreover, it is a tool to promote dialogue between the different stakeholders in order to reach mutually accepted compromises and agreements and to inspire Arab legislators to promote freedom of association.
