Report :

This seminar comprised several topics such as the cooperation among NGOs and political parties, as well as the main features characterizing parties, the manner of action and funding for parties. Also, it included many interesting and important lectures such as that about NGOs and international cooperation for development, and another lecture about the solidarity of the city of Dresden and the international community for rebuilding the historic church destroyed during World War II to become an architectural marvel. These and other presentations, as well as the group work would be very useful to me in my political life and will enhance my leadership skills.

I liked so much the visit to the historical sites, but the guide talked extensively, which was not very interesting. I was most impressed by the method of working groups. The participants used to search for information in handouts, the internet, or draw on our own experience. This way the information was committed to memory.

I participated with groups in trying to find common grounds for cooperation among NGOs and political parties, the manner of action by parties, and methods for fund raising for parties. I participated positively in the work groups and gained from the experience I had through participating in the FNSt Cairo workshops. I participated in the presentations, making illustrations, as well as a dramatic sketch. Among the important things I learnt was the political reality in several countries, which I find amazingly similar to that in Egypt. I also came to learn the manner with which civil society members and political parties deal with this reality.

Despite the cold weather, Germany is a very beautiful country and I learnt many things during this short visit to the Academy, such as respecting time, accepting different opinions, working with a group, and other things. I also benefited from the content of presentations and lectures which I intend to utilize in my work in Egypt and the Democratic Front Party.
