Report :
I would like to express my thanks to FNF for the efforts exerted to establish and spread the values of liberalism around the world, and particularly in Egypt, through helping create cadres that will be able to lead the society.
The journey to Germany was one that changed many conceptions and opinions I held. Upon arriving to Düsseldorf, one of the staff of the organization was waiting at the airport to take us to the IAF in Gummersbach.
There I learnt the value of keeping time and discipline. I also learnt how one can be a wise leader in the full sense of the term, through observing group work, which was very useful. There were many young leaders from countries worldwide. There were several discussions about the various forms of government, the nature of youth organizations in these countries, the impediments faced by them, the environment in which they operate, the manner of attracting membership thereto, the way to establish an internal structure, the way to finance nascent organizations, and the means to protect them from conflicts to make them stronger. Most significantly is that I learnt the means to create an efficient strategic plan, and the various elements of this plan.
Another unforgettable aspect is the visit to the JULIS headquarters where were introduced to the internal structure and the operation with independence from the mother party, as well as the means for funding.
I loved the city of Berlin, which I had hoped to visit. It was also very impressive to see the traces of the Berlin wall. I liked the city of Köln so much as well.
I cannot forget the visit to Weimar and the Buchenwald Concentration Camp, which strikes a sense of owe evoked by the images of torture and the darker side of German history.
We also attended an extraordinary Convention for the FDP, which was very impressive with the great organization and management. I was so struck by the charisma of the Party Leader and the love the members show him, as upon his entrance a storm of applause started.
We visited the parliament of Dresden and we were introduced to the ways of managing discussions, which was a very informative visit.
